Rangers Women's manager Jo Potter has admitted she was left frustrated as her side were "nowhere near good enough" during their defeat to Celtic.

The Light Blues picked up their first defeat of the Scottish Womens Premier League season as they slipped to a 2-1 defeat to their Old Firm rivals on Sunday (17 March) with Natasha Flint's brace the difference between the sides.

While the Gers improved in the second half and found the net through Jane Ross towards the end of the game, Potter was left disappointed that her side lacked the bite to step up and go toe to toe with their Glasgow rivals.

Speaking to RangersTV on Sunday (17 March) she said: "It's more frustration more than anything. It's nowhere near good enough in the first half, the players know that, we know that. We can't work all week on certain things to counteract an opposition and then it does not come out.

"Our quality wasn't there, our battling wasn't there. We can't make sure that we're coming into these games and being second best to anything. If there's anything that's non-negotiable it's that willingness to step up and have a real good go at your opponent."

Will Rangers Women beat Celtic to the title this season?

Rangers Women have been so good this season that it feels harsh to criticise Potter's side after a single defeat, but the Light Blues didn't ever really settle into Sunday's game which is strange when they've been so dominant.

The Light Blues had plenty of shots and had more than enough chances to steal a point or potentially even a win, but they started incredibly slowly and allowed the Hoops to comfortably settle into the match with a big lead.

Luckily, Potter's side's good form means that they still sit top of the Premier League table, albeit with their lead now cut to a point with both Celtic and Glasgow City within touching distance of the top of the table.

Hopefully, Rangers will quickly bounce back against Partick Thistle on Sunday (24 March) when they have the chance to lift the Sky Sports Cup. Getting their hands on some silverware would quickly lift the mood in the blue half of Glasgow.
