Rangers transfer news as Ridvan Yilmaz stance on summer Ibrox exit emerges

Rangers defender Ridvan Yilmaz has “no plan” to complete a move away from Ibrox during the summer transfer window, according to Joshua Barrie.

The Turkish international was linked with a transfer away from Glasgow in the January transfer window and while no such move materialised, there have been suggestions he remains unsettled in Scotland.

On top of that, the Gers’ signing of Jefte and plan to extend Robbie Fraser’s contract has increased speculation around his future. However, Rangers Review journalist Barrie suggests he isn’t expected to depart.

Speaking on The Rangers Review YouTube channel (30 May, 23:00) he said: “The latest we’ve heard about the Ridvan situation from his side of things is that there is no plan for him to leave.

“But as you say he is a player that holds value. That was the same in the January transfer window, he holds an interest back in Turkey and Rangers knew that when they signed him.”

Will Ridvan Yilmaz leave Rangers and Ibrox in the summer transfer window?

He may have divided opinion for much of his career in Scotland, but it is safe to say that Yilmaz has managed to win over the majority of his doubters over the course of this season with some excellent performances.

While some will still be critical of his injury record, which has been poor this season as he missed a lot of the second half of the campaign, when he is fit he has shown that he can be a real difference-maker under Philippe Clement.

Jefte and Fraser may provide compensation for the starting role under the Belgian, but it has been quite clear that when Yilmaz is fit he is the first-choice left-back and that is unlikely to change before the start of next term.

If a big-money offer did arrive for the 23-year-old this summer, then the Light Blues could have a decision to make. Until that occurs, it doesn’t seem like either party is desperate for the Turkish international to depart.
