Ianis Hagi to make summer Ibrox return as new Rangers transfer update emerges at Ibrox
Rangers loanee Ianis Hagi will return to Ibrox this summer, but won’t remain in Glasgow for very long, according to Chris Jack.
The Romanian international has spent the season out on loan with La Liga side Deportivo Alaves but has struggled to make a major impact in Spain, starting only seven league matches and only laying on two assists.
While the 25-year-old impressed in Deportivo’s heavy defeat to Real Madrid, Rangers Review journalist Jack doesn’t believe the midfielder will force his way back into Philippe Clement’s plans and expects him to be sold this summer.
Speaking on The Rangers Review YouTube channel (17 May) he said: “I would be very surprised, to be honest. Hagi I just don’t see it, his Rangers career has not gone the way that we thought it would.
“That wee injury all but ended his time at Ibrox unfortunately, which is disappointing for him. I think Rangers have just moved on and I think it’s probably best for him to move on.
“Hagi is almost a forgotten asset who is outside of the building. He will come back into the building this summer, but I don’t think it will be for very long.”
Will Ianis Hagi return to Rangers and Ibrox this summer?
While there will always be a section of Rangers supporters who suggest that Hagi still has what it takes to play week in and week out at Ibrox, it seems clear that he won’t have a future under Clement.
The Belgian only tends to play with a single number 10 in his squad and more often than not that man is Todd Cantwell or Tom Lawrence. While Clement will be keen to upgrade, it is hard to see the Romanian being the man to step in.

Although the 25-year-old may not have a future in Glasgow, his age profile and international experience do make him a sellable asset. If he performs well in the European Championship this summer, the Gers could earn a reasonable fee.
With Clement insisting he wants to make big changes to the playing squad in the summer transfer window, any money received for Hagi could be reinvested into new signings, therefore an early exit would be excellent for everyone involved.
