Rangers v Dundee injury news as Doctor issues Leon Balogun update

Rangers defender Leon Balogun may be ready for a late fitness test against Dundee on 14 May, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that he’s still doubtful, having missed the Celtic clash, but it all depends on how his training has been in the build up.

The 35-year-old picked up an injury in the game against Kilmarnock in which he played for 45 minutes.

The likes of Oscar Cortes, Danilo and Connor Goldson will anyway be missing the game.

Discussing his situation exclusively with Ibrox News, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:

“He suffered a back injury and at that stage, it was possible to rule him out for the rest of the season.

“However with the club still not doing it, there could be a chance he’s ready to return and it all depends on how his body is responding to the increased training requirements.

“While he still remains a doubt for the next game, having missed the weekend clash, he could be in contention for a late fitness test.

“Then the club will assess whether he’s ready to start or could do with minutes off the bench.”

Will Leon Balogun get a new Rangers contract?

There were legitimate concerns that the Nigeria international may never play at Ibrox again after his recent injury setback.

His contract at the club runs out in June and a lengthy injury could all but seal his fate.

However, having him back this season has been a positive and if he isn’t on heavy wages, it will be sensible to give him another year at the club.

In other Rangers news, a star player may now never be seen at Ibrox after a ground-breaking update has emerged about him recently.
