Celtic ace Alistair Johnston surgery risk detailed after Rangers ace John Lundstram tackle
Celtic defender Alistair Johnston faces the risk of surgery after Rangers midfielder John Lundstram’s challenge, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that it was a dangerous tackle by the Englishman and he was rightly shown the red card for it in the Old Firm derby on 11 March.
The Hoops ended up winning the game 2-1 and are now on course to retain the SPFL title.
Discussing his situation exclusively with Ibrox News, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:
“That was most certainly a red card as it endangered the safety of the player.
“It was a dangerous lunge that could cause damage to the ankle.
“The worst case would be an unstable high ankle sprain and fracture that requires surgery and hopefully, he does not feel the effects of it in a day or two.”
John Lundstram in a shocking display for Rangers
Lundstram certainly will not be throwing himself into a similar challenge again given the repercussions of this one.
It was a shameful choice by the 30-year-old at a stage where his side appeared to be clawing their way back into the game.

It’s hard to argue against the decision and hopefully, Johnston does not pick up an injury courtesy of Lundstram’s carelessness.
