Trabzonspor star considers exit with Rangers ace Borna Barisic sealing agreement to replace him

Rangers defender Borna Barisic is all set for a move to Trabzonspor this summer with the club’s current left-back Eren Elmali thought to be seeking an exit route as he appears to be replaced, according to Gunebakis.

The Turkish news outlet reported on 7 May that Elmali is reported to be heading to Ligue 1 side Nantes, following his expected appearance in the Turkiye squad for Euro 2024.

His mooted move to France means Barisic is ever closer to departing Ibrox for the Turkish Super Lig, with the Croatian’s tensions with Rangers fans seemingly coming to a head after Sunday’s win over Kilmarnock.

Barisic started the 4-1 victory but has only made 15 league appearances so far this season with Dujon Sterling or Ridvan Yilmaz often chosen to start by Philippe Clement instead.

Which Rangers players could leave Ibrox this summer?

The out-of-contract Barisic is one of several who could be on their way out of Rangers after the season’s end.

John Lundstram’s talks over a new deal could be hijacked by Premier League newcomers Ipswich Town, whilst there is considerable interest from English clubs in bringing Jack Butland back south after an excellent first year at Ibrox.

Fellow goalkeepers Jon McLaughlin and Robby McCrorie may be on their way out as wholesale changes could take place in Glasgow – which could include first-team opportunities for academy goalkeeper Mason Munn, who has been performing terrifically this campaign.

Kemar Roofe, Leon Balogun and Ryan Jack are also all out of contract this summer as the club holds talks with several of the squad, and Fabio Silva and Abdallah Sima see their loans expire.

The Gers possess an option to buy on Oscar Cortes, but could be hesitant with the Colombian’s injury woes and another loan offer remains more likely.

In other Rangers news, Butland is heard clashing with a fan as exit rumours intensify.
