Jack Butland could be forced into Rangers exit after fan altercation spotted
Jack Butland may have sealed his Rangers fate after the shot-stopper was spotted in an altercation with fans outside Ibrox on Sunday (5 May).
The 31-year-old has regularly been linked with moves away from Scotland due to his brilliant form this season and, reportedly, is keen on a transfer back to the Premier League this summer. [DHNet]
Despite being named Rangers’ Player of the Year, Butland may have just sealed his Ibrox exit this summer after being pulled away from an angry bust-up with a fan after the 4-1 win over Kilmarnock.
While it is unclear what provoked the goalkeeper’s reaction, the Scottish Sun posted a video via its website on Tuesday (7 May) in which Butland could be heard saying: “That’s fine. I stop every single time. Every single time.
“I’ve stopped every week. Every week.”
Will Rangers sell Jack Butland this summer?
As with any in-form player, the rumour mill has started to spin way before the summer transfer window opens, and Butland has been the victim of this.
However, with emotions running high as the Gers attempt to pip their Old Firm rivals Celtic to the Scottish Premiership title, it is understandable why frustrations are starting to flare.
Rangers had put themselves in a brilliant chance after Philippe Clement’s arrival in October but recent matches have seen the pendulum swing in the direction of the Hoops, much to the annoyance of the Ibrox faithful.
After Kilmarnock opened the scoring at Ibrox on Sunday, fans will have been fearing the worst. Although Rangers were able to overturn the deficit against 10 men, there were still worries on show.
There was absolutely nothing Butland could have done about James Tavernier’s own goal, so any blame fans may have bestowed upon him outside Ibrox may have touched a nerve for the ‘keeper.
If the rumours about Butland’s potential return to England this summer are true, Rangers may feel forced to cash in, especially after this altercation was spotted outside the stadium.
Even if he doesn’t want to leave Ibrox, more clashes like these with fans could force him out as not many players will want to deal with that from their own.
