Rangers star Jack Butland set for a ‘lot of attention’ as ‘mega money’ transfer mooted at Ibrox
Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland will get “a lot of attention” in the summer transfer window if he’s picked by England for Euro 2024, according to Neil McCann.
The 31-year-old has been in exceptional form for the Light Blues this season, putting in a number of excellent displays between the posts to help drag Philippe Clement’s side back into the Premiership title race.
While BBC Sport pundit McCann believes the Englishman’s “superb” form warrants a place in Gareth Southgate’s squad for this summer’s tournament, he does admit his inclusion could spark some “mega money” offers.
Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show (23 April, 1:16:45) he said: “I think he will be a player that gets a lot of attention. If he gets into the England squad which I think he absolutely should, I think he’s a superb goalkeeper.
“I would love to see him in the England squad, once he’s in there, everybody gets that attraction and they start talking about mega money. I’d love to see him stay here.”
Will Jack Butland leave Rangers and Ibrox in the summer transfer window?
So many of Michael Beale’s summer signings at Ibrox have flattered to deceive for large parts of the season, with the likes of Sam Lammers, Cyriel Dessers and Danilo all having their critics among the fanbase.
But from the moment he stepped foot in Glasgow, Butland has hit the ground running in a Rangers shirt, going from strength to strength between the posts. Without him, the Gers wouldn’t even be close to Celtic in the race at the top of the table.

There was interest in the England international during the January transfer window from the Premier League, but no move materialised and the Ibrox stopper was more than content to remain north of the border.
Whether the same will happen again this summer remains to be seen, but there will be plenty of eyes on him if he is part of England’s squad in Germany this summer. It might be best for the Gers if Southgate leaves him at home once again.
