Rangers: Philippe Clement shares what he learned from Pep Guardiola and Manchester City
Philippe Clement revealed he has taken inspiration from Manchester City’s treble documentary as Rangers continue to fight Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title.
The Gers were dealt a huge blow in their bid to lift the league trophy after a shock 3-2 defeat to Ross County at the Global Energy Stadium on Sunday (14 April).
While Rangers have a game in hand over their Old Firm rivals, they will be one point behind the Hoops even if all three points are claimed against Dundee at Dens Park on Wednesday (17 April).
Speaking in a press conference, quoted by the Daily Record (17 April), Clement said: “It is the first time in six months that I see my team like that. I was disappointed but I think every manager has these moments, even with teams that win amazing things.
“I have been watching the series about the treble of Man City of last year and I saw quite a few of those moments. And the most interesting thing from that documentary was when they won the treble, you see they had up and down moments.
“They lost to teams – with all respect – like Southampton and Brentford. They got angry with themselves as top players, being disappointed with themselves.
“They then picked up again. Therefore, you also see the downsides and that’s one of the things that’s part of this job and part of this life.”
Can Rangers pip Celtic to the Scottish Premiership title?
Rangers fans will be extremely disappointed if they are unable to lift just their second league title in the last decade, especially after such a significant comeback under Clement’s leadership.
All hope of beating Celtic looked lost during Michael Beale’s reign at Ibrox, with a huge gap opening up between the rivals in the table.
However, Clement has done an incredible job of turning things around, even helping Rangers to win the League Cup and reach the Europa League round of 16.

Though fans will be disappointed if this league campaign ends in anything other than success, the current manager has shown some exciting signs of what is to come, especially once he can bring some more players of his own.
Comparing his own journey to that of Man City and Pep Guardiola’s should also come as a good sign to the Ibrox faithful, as it shows exactly what his aims are in Scotland with Rangers.
