Andy Walker shares surprise at what Philippe Clement did in Rangers loss v Ross County
Andy Walker was surprised to see Philippe Clement march straight down the tunnel after the Rangers defeat against Ross County on Sunday (14 April).
Speaking on Go Radio on Tuesday (16 March, via the Daily Record), the pundit said it was obviously down to the “shock of losing” as he insisted that you need to stay on the touchline and shake hands with the opposing manager at the final whistle.
But he admitted that everyone knows the type of pressure managers are under and that it can be a “brutal” business for them, adding that the incident tells you that the pressure is “enormous” after the Gers’ title hopes suffered a blow in their 3-2 defeat in Dingwall.
“I think he’s been a class act so I was surprised when he marched down the tunnel after the game,” said Walker. “Obviously it was down to the shock of losing, as every manager has felt a painful defeat.
“You need to stay and shake hands with the opposing manager. Everyone knows what type of pressure managers are under. It can be brutal and you can be binned for no reason.
“That was the only surprise to me and it tells you that the pressure every week is enormous.”
Philippe Clement recognised error after Rangers defeat
It was clearly an extremely frustrating afternoon for Clement after he saw his Rangers side fall to defeat against Ross County.
While it wasn’t great to see the Gers boss head straight down the tunnel at the final whistle, he did recognise his error later on after he was spotted shaking hands with the Staggies boss Don Cowie.
It was probably just a sign of how much the pressure has been ramped up in recent weeks, with the defeat making it a much more difficult task for his side to lift the title this season.

But the Light Blues are still firmly in the race and they know that, if they can manage to win all of their remaining matches, they will be crowned champions.
That has to start in their rearranged game against Dundee on Wednesday (17 April), where they will be looking to cut the gap to Celtic back down to one point.
