Rangers: Philippe Clement told to ‘be careful’ as ‘doom and gloom’ verdict emerges at Ibrox

Rangers manager Philippe Clement “needs to be careful” because of what the squad did to Michael Beale and Giovanni van Bronckhorst, according to Mark Guidi.

The Light Blues suffered a massive blow to their title hopes as they were well beaten by Ross County on Sunday (14 April), meaning they will now almost certainly need to beat Celtic at Parkhead to lift the Premiership.

Clement has opted to rest and rotate his squad and rotate his squad since arriving at Ibrox, but Guidi has urged the Belgian to stick with a settled starting XI as the squad have got two managers sacked in the space of a year.

Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show (15 April, 28:25) he said: “A lot of these players have got two managers the sack in the space of a year, he needs to be careful. You need to know who you can hang your hat on, there’s a title at stake, a potential treble.

“It’s all doom and gloom but Rangers could be sitting with a treble in five weeks’ time and if I’m him, I find my starting XI for Wednesday night and pretty much stick with it.”

Philippe Clement and Rangers hand Celtic advantage in title race as Ibrox sack prediction made

While there has been no suggestion that Clement is under any sort of pressure from the Ibrox board at this moment in time, losing isn’t tolerated in Glasgow and should Celtic win the league, it will reflect on the Belgian.

Ultimately, he has dragged the Light Blues back into the title race since he took over from Beale, but that will count for very little if they don’t manage to get their hands on the Premiership trophy come the end of the year.

Philippe Clement has turned things around at Rangers

The title still hangs in the balance and should Rangers manage to claim all three points at Parkhead, they could well come out on top, but it is clear that Clement needs a clearout at Ibrox this summer as far too many players are nowhere near good enough.

Hopefully, the Belgian will listen to Guidi’s warning and do everything he can to get things back on track in Glasgow. If not, it won’t be too long until the usual suspects claim that Clement isn’t cut out to turn the tide at Ibrox.
