Chris Sutton has fired a new "moral victory" jibe at Rangers manager Philippe Clement following the Gers defeat to Ross County.

The Light Blues missed the chance to close the gap to Celtic at the top of the table as they lost 3-2 to Don Cowie's side on Sunday (14 April) as they conceded three second-half goals in a huge dent to their title hopes.

Ibrox boss Clement was quick to suggest the Gers had picked up a "moral victory" in their 3-3 draw against Celtic last time out and Sutton was quick to aim a dig at the Belgian moments after the full-time whistle.

Writing on X on Sunday (14 April) he said: "Not even a moral victory today… well played Ross County."

Rangers hand Celtic advantage in Premiership title race, Chris Sutton is delighted

Rangers needed to build upon their excellent second-half showing at Ibrox against their Glasgow rivals when they travelled to Ross County on Sunday, but they never even really got going against Cowie's side.

Clement's Gers were handed the lead in strange circumstances as Jack Baldwin bundled into his own net and barring Tavernier's second-half penalty, the Light Blues never even managed to pose a goal threat.

If Rangers genuinely want to win the Premiership this season, they cannot afford to miss out on these sorts of games. Not only did they fail to claim all three points, they didn't even put Ross County under any real pressure.

Sutton and most Celtic supporters will be licking their lips as this title race heats up. The Hoops are well and truly in the driving seat now and it is hard to see how or where they will let the Gers back into the battle at the top.

Hopefully, they will find a way to secure more than a moral victory at Parkhead later this season.
