Rangers v Celtic: BBC pundit issues SPFL title verdict after Philippe Clement comments
Kenny Miller has issued his verdict on the SPFL title ahead of Rangers v Celtic after what he heard Philippe Clement say.
The BBC pundit said that he thinks Gers will win the title if they beat their arch rivals and then Dundee in mid-week.
If Brendan Rodgers’ side are to win, he thinks it’s an open race rather than them being the favourites.
He told Superscoreboard, via Football Scotland: “If Rangers win on Sunday and then beat Dundee to go five points clear with six games to go, they won’t throw that away. I don’t think Philippe Clement will allow that to happen.
“We’ve seen coaches and managers over the years overcomplicate things and try to play how maybe they think people want them to play or how they need to be seen to be playing. Philippe Clement’s a winner. He’s talked about about it. It’s game by game, he wants to win and more often than not, since he’s come in, his team have.
“If Rangers were to win, the psychology of it, if Celtic were to look at it, on Wednesday night they are potentially five points back with six games to go. I just think they look at it and say, ‘You know what? We are relying heavily on other teams now. Other teams, for the most part, Philippe Clement has swept aside.
“On the other hand, if Celtic were to win then I still think it’s alive. Because as much as it (the final Old Firm game of the season) is at Celtic Park, it’s two very, very evenly matched teams. Rangers could go to Celtic Park and win, and then go on to win the league.”
Rangers control their own destiny
With a one-point lead over Celtic and a game in hand, Gers hold their destiny firmly in their hands as they approach the crucial stages of the season.
Miller’s assertion that Clement won’t allow his side to squander a five-point lead emphasises the importance of maintaining their advantage.
If Gers secure a victory against Celtic in the upcoming derby and follow it up with a win against Dundee, they could potentially extend their lead to five points with six games remaining.
This scenario should serve as a significant incentive for the Ibrox outfit to remain focused and determined to secure the title.
With the fate of the league title squarely within their control, they have the opportunity to seize the moment, assert their dominance and ensure they finish the season as champions.

It’s now up to them to capitalize on this advantage and get the job done on the pitch.
