Rangers: Sheffield United ace Oli McBurnie confirms Ibrox transfer desire
Sheffield United’s Leeds born striker Oli McBurnie has confirmed his desire to move to Rangers to play in the Old Firm derby v Celtic.
The 27-year-old’s contract expires at Bramall Lane in the summer and he will be a free agent.
The Ibrox outfit have been linked with his services this season and Philippe Clement may want to bring in a striker in the summer.
McBurnie told the Stomping Ground podcast, as quoted by the Daily Record: “Listen, it’s a special club. Have you ever been to the Old Firm? I’ve been to plenty of Old Firms and I’ve never experienced a game like it, either playing or watching. Most people who have ever been to them will say the same.
“Growing up, I was always a big Rangers fan and it’s something I’ve always wanted to do. It’s just about timing.
“I hope one day, by the end of my career, I play for Rangers. I hope I get to experience that side of it.
“If I don’t, I don’t. But I hope by the end of my career I can say I’ve played in an Old Firm at one point.”
Rangers may benefit from signing McBurnie
McBurnie could prove to be a shrewd addition to Gers as he is a proven goalscorer with experience playing in the Premier League for Sheffield United.
Despite the team’s struggles, the 27-year-old has managed to find the back of the net consistently, showcasing his ability to perform at a high level.
McBurnie’s affinity for the club, having grown up supporting them, could bring a level of passion and commitment to the team.
His desire to fulfil his childhood dream of playing for Gers could drive him to excel on the pitch and make significant contributions to the team’s success.
Additionally, with Clement likely seeking reinforcements up front and McBurnie’s contract set to expire in the summer, the timing could be right for Rangers to pursue his signature.

As a free agent, McBurnie represents a cost-effective option for Rangers to bolster their attacking options without breaking the bank.
