Four Lads: Rangers fans ‘will never forgive’ Cyriel Dessers if he flops v Celtic again
Rangers fans “will never forgive” Cyriel Dessers if he flops against Celtic again as he prepares for another Old Firm derby.
The Nigeria international started both defeats to the Ibrox club’s fierce rivals this season and missed big chances both times, earning big criticism from fans and pundits alike.
Dessers has netted 12 times in 14 SPFL games since the arrival of Philippe Clement though and Four Lads Had A Dream have tipped him to get the nod in the starting lineup once again (5 April), but warned that he can’t afford not to be clinical at Ibrox this Sunday (7 April).
“The attack is where this game will be won and lost,” he wrote.
“If and when we get chances, please take them Rangers. In both defeats this season Sam Lammers and Cyriel Dessers have missed the very definition of guilt-edged opportunities. That simply cannot happen again if Rangers are to claim a victory.
“Dessers will start for me and rightly so. The No.9’s form is good enough with 12 goals in 14 league appearances under Clement and like Cantwell, this is a shot at redemption. Fail to grab it and many will never forgive the big striker.”
Rangers must be clinical against Celtic to win
The only time a Clement side has gone up against Celtic, the game was decided by a moment of clinical finishing from Kyogo and summed up by a host of chances missed.
Dessers was and has been a serial offender of that this season, but he has found a way to keep going and eventually find the net in a lot of games since the Belgian’s arrival at the club.
But against Celtic the chances of him getting a host of opportunities to score are slim, because they’re a much better team than the rest of the league and that means the light blues simply cannot afford to let those chances pass them by.

Dessers has come under fire a lot this season but has also scored important goals to get some fans back on side. If he can’t do it at the highest level when it matters the most though, that goodwill will quickly disappear.
Football fans are fickle, but also that would be three strikes and he’s out. Dessers has to perform, and topping it off with a goal would be the perfect way to do that.
