Celtic have been handed a "massive" boost ahead of the Old Firm clash with Rangers after Callum McGregor was spotted back in training.

The Hoops skipper has been missing since the end of February through injury and had been a doubt to face Philippe Clement's side at Ibrox on Sunday (7 April).

But in a huge boost for the current champions, McGregor was photographed back in training for Brendan Rodgers' side with PLZ Soccer calling it a "massive boost".

Rangers want Celtic at their best

The winner of this game on Sunday is largely expected to go on and become the champions of the SPFL for the 2023/24 season, which makes it an absolutely huge game.

But while both teams have got their injury concerns heading into the tie, neither set of fans want the other to have any excuses at the end of the game should they be the victor.

Rangers and Celtic will both want their opponent to be at their best and still come out on top so there are no question marks and no doubts about who the best team in Scotland is right now.

McGregor being fit again for Celtic is big news, but it could also be something that Clement can target as after being out for so long there is no way he could possibly be 100% for a game of this intensity and importance.

If he starts the game Rangers will have a target immediately, while if he's on the bench then Celtic are weaker. It's a win-win situation for the Gers and they must take advantage now.
