Rangers news: Chris Jack reveals double Ibrox change
The Rangers board will install netting at Ibrox and also update the turnstile procedures as Celtic fans will be allowed in next season.
Rangers Review’s Chris Jack has explained the European allocation move as the SPFL announced on 29 March that Ibrox and Parkhead will have away fans for Old Firm derbies from next season.
However, there will be measures both teams have to undertake to ensure supporters’ safety.
Jack wrote on 29 March: “This ‘European allocation’ move must be welcomed. Rangers will receive around 3,000 tickets at Parkhead and Celtic will be handed around 2,500 at Ibrox.
“The Ibrox board will install netting as part of new safety measures and updated turnstile procedures will also be in place.
“Across the city, there will be a checklist for Celtic to work through as well to ensure all travelling fans are safe in a section that will extend from their current place in the corner further round that end of the ground.”
Rangers and Celtic must guarantee fans’ safety
The history of violence in these matches underscores the importance of proactive measures to prevent incidents and ensure a safe environment for all attendees.
Over the years, clashes between rival fans have marred the reputation of the Old Firm derby, leading to injuries and even fatalities in extreme cases.
By installing netting and updating procedures, both Rangers and Celtic are taking proactive steps to mitigate potential risks and enhance security measures within their stadiums.
This not only demonstrates a commitment to the safety and well-being of supporters but also aligns with broader efforts to promote a positive and inclusive matchday experience.

Ultimately, prioritising supporter safety fosters an atmosphere where fans can enjoy the game without fear of violence or intimidation, contributing to a more enjoyable and peaceful footballing environment for everyone involved.
