Rangers: Pundit shares worry amid recent Rangers controversy
Barry Ferguson has expressed his frustration over the postponement of Rangers v Dundee on Sunday, 17 March, the fourth one at Dens.
The game was called off just a few hours before kick-off, inconveniencing fans and everyone involved who would’ve been a part of the contest.
It was also the fourth time such an incident has happened at Dens Park.
Ferguson told the Daily Record: “My biggest issue on Sunday was that there had been three previous call-offs at Dens. There are problems with certain parts of the pitch. We all knew what kind of weather was coming. So why were those areas not covered? Calling the game off less than two hours before kick off wasn’t a good look. Particularly with the live TV cameras there.
“When I saw the pictures of the park there was no chance the game was going to be played. I saw Don Robertson testing the dodgy parts and the ball wasn’t rolling. I feel for the fans who would have travelled some distance and been within 30 minutes or so of the ground when the news came through. But listen, I love the way the new manager is taking things in his stride and he will just be looking forward to getting players back and playing Hibs at Ibrox.”
Rangers fans deserve better
The late postponement of the Rangers v Dundee clash due to an unplayable pitch was a shocking turn of events that reflects poorly on the professionalism within football.
Despite the known issues with the pitch, including three previous call-offs at Dens Park due to heavy rainfall, the decision to postpone the game was made just hours before kick off, leaving both the Gersteam and thousands of travelling fans inconvenienced and disappointed.
Such last-minute decisions not only disrupt the plans of players, staff and supporters but also tarnish the reputation of the league.
The lack of communication and proactive measures to address the pitch conditions in a timely manner demonstrates a lack of professionalism that should not be tolerated in professional football.
This incident underscores the need for better pitch management, proactive communication between clubs and officials and a greater commitment to upholding professional standards within the sport.

Such unprofessionalism detracts from the integrity and quality of the game, highlighting the importance of ensuring that similar situations are avoided in the future.
