Rangers: Blaine McClure can follow Ross McCausland to Ibrox stardom after B Team development
Rangers certainly have plenty of young talent in the first team, with Philippe Clement proving he is more than willing to rely on youth.
One such player is Ross McCausland, with the Northern Ireland international featuring heavily under the Belgian this season.
The Ibrox club now have McCausland 2.0 to progress into the first team, with his fellow Northern Irishman Blaine McClure making his Rangers B debut on Monday (26 February).
The 17-year-old appeared as a second-half substitute as the Ibrox club defeated Dundee 5-3, having been a regular for the Under-18s this season [official Rangers website, 26 February].
The website alluded to the fact that McClure is already following McCausland’s pathway very closely, having also joined the Glasgow giants from Irish Premiership club Linfield.
And now McClure himself has shared his admiration for his compatriot, telling the official Rangers website (26 February): “Ross McCausland is a big inspiration to me. He was very good to me when I first came over; welcoming me to the club as a new boy considering he has been here for a few years. He has taken me under his wing and guided me the right way.”
Can Blaine McClure follow in Ross McCausland’s footsteps at Rangers?
It is superb to see 20-year-old McCausland taking such care of a fellow player, proving his maturity at such a young.
The winger has impressed in the first team after graduating from the academy, with 17-year-old McClure now keen to follow in his footsteps at Ibrox.

He will have been delighted to have made his Rangers B debut, with manager David McCallum also giving minutes to senior star Kemar Roofe as he continues his recovery from injury.
