Kemar Roofe was in action for the B team of Rangers when they took on Dundee on Monday, 26 February.

The Jamaican has missed a large chunk of the season with injury giving Philippe Clement a shortage of options in the final third.

He had not been seen in action since December until he came off the bench against Hearts over the weekend and with this recent game appears to be closing in on being at a 100 per cent.

Massive injury boost for Rangers

Back in January, there were even fears of him not returning again before May - putting doubts on his future at Ibrox.

An injury expert said: “Considering he returned from injury and then had to be subbed off after only 16 minutes resulting in what sounds like another significant injury, it certainly sounds like there is concern for him not returning this season.

You combine that with his previous injury history and multiple fitness dents due to absences and that reality becomes even more probable.

He’s unfortunately not been able to catch a break over the last few seasons and the lack of match sharpness is telling in high-intensity games, especially.

Kemar Roofe must not be rushed back

However, the fact that he's returned to the B Team and even managed to score right after four minutes suggests that he's getting back his sharpness.

Given the time he's spent out and the multiple injuries he's faced over the last few seasons, it makes sense to be slow with his return.

He'll gradually get increased minutes for the reserves and based on how he fares, his intensity will gradually be ramped up.

Rangers manager Philippe Clement
Philippe Clement has overseen an excellent turnaround at Rangers.

Hopefully, he does not face any more setbacks as he's already 31 and will find it exceedingly hard to recover from another long-term blow.
