Rangers star Danilo sends message as terms agreed for Ibrox exit
Rangers striker Danilo sent a seven-word message to Jose Cifuentes after his confirmed loan exit from Ibrox on Wednesday (7 February).
Cifuentes has joined Cruzeiro on a 12-month loan, with the Brazilian side having an option to buy the 24-year-old after falling out of favour with Philippe Clement.
Rangers have also confirmed the deal, with the midfielder making just 20 appearances and six starts at Ibrox having only joined the club last summer signed by Michael Beale. [official Rangers X account, 7 February].
Cruzeiro posted on its official X account on Wednesday (7 February) that Cifuentes is now resolving the last bureaucratic issues for his arrival in Brazil, shortly after confirming his signature.
Fellow Beale signing Danilo sent a message to Cifuentes on Instagram after his confirmed exit (7 February), writing: “I wish you good luck little brother, God bless you.”
Cifuentes responded on his Instagram by saying: “Thank you very much brother for the good wishes.”
Cifuentes never really got going at Ibrox
The midfielder was highly thought of when he made the move from LA FC, but he’s been a little bit inconsistent in a Light Blues shirt so far this season.
The 24-year-old was certainly the midfield weapon Rangers desperately needed when Beale brought him in from Los Angeles FC over the summer, providing much aggression, energy, cutting-edge and progressive play either from deep in midfield or in the advanced roles.
However, none of those characteristics were on show since his move and it was always on the cards that manager Clement would ditch him in the new year.
The 24-year-old has 20 Gers appearances to his name, featuring in the Scottish Premiership, Europa League and League Cup.
But he has now left Scotland for Brazil on a year-long loan, which may just turn into a permanent deal if all parties are happy.

And judging by the way Clement has moved on already, bringing in Mohamed Diomande, that permanent exit may be sealed well before the 12 months is up.
It has been quite the downfall for the midfielder, who represented Ecuador at the 2022 World Cup, as well as winning the MLS Cup with LAFC. Farewell.
