Rangers: Chris Jack shares new John Lundstram contract update at Ibrox
Rangers and John Lundstram are finalising the terms of a contract extension, with talks between the two parties “on course”, according to Chris Jack.
The English midfielder has been a key part of Philippe Clement’s midfield since the Belgian arrived at Ibrox, becoming one of the first names on the teamsheet with impressive performances against the likes of St Mirren and Hibernian.
Lundstram’s contract in Glasgow is set to expire at the end of the season, but Rangers Review journalist Jack has insisted that talks over an extension are progressing and it is just down to the Gers when they make the announcement.
Speaking on the Rangers Review YouTube channel (8 February) he said: “As far as I know, it is still very much on course, it was after the Dumbarton game the manager said that he was keen to keep him.
“I know John himself has said that he’d be keen to stay, by the sounds of it, it’s just a case of finalising the terms on that and then it’s obviously up to Rangers when they announce it.”
Philippe Clement wants to keep John Lundstram at Rangers
The middle of the park has been an area of concern for Clement since he arrived at Ibrox, with injuries to the likes of Ryan Jack, Lundstram and Tom Lawrence seeing the Belgian’s options incredibly limited throughout the campaign.
However, Lundstram has been available week in and week out and has managed to put in some remarkable performances, with pundits being astounded by his “wonderful” range of passing and suggestions that it should be the Gers’ number one priority to tie him down.

It seems as though the Light Blues’ have listened to those requests and put the wheels in motion to keep the 29-year-old at Ibrox for the foreseeable. With the additions made in January, he won’t be a guaranteed starter, but he will definitely have a role to play.
In the biggest matches where there is a need for more control and a bit of finesse in the middle of the park, there are few better in Rangers’ camp than Lundstram.
Securing his future may be one of Clement and Rangers’ best pieces of business this season.
