Rangers news: Simon Jordan delivers Premier League admission on Philippe Clement
Simon Jordan believes that Philippe Clement’s good performance at Rangers could see him in line for a Premier League move.
The talkSPORT host admits that having seen Gers’ displays recently and going on a 17-game unbeaten run has given him reason to believe the Belgian is the right man for the job.
Gers are currently level on points with Celtic at the top of the SPFL with the Hoops ahead on Goal Difference.
Jordan said, as quoted by Daily Record on 7 February: “Words are cheap, but when you back them out with outcomes, then people then ultimately people subscribe to your words.
“But when I saw him in the first press conference I thought ‘Hmm, like him’.
“It was quiet, assured, inherent belief. Not flamboyant, not over the top, just solid. And I’m not surprised. I wouldn’t have pencilled in that they’d have gone on this 17-game unbeaten run until they came up short against Celtic in the Old Firm game.
“But they’ve got a good one here. And ultimately the tragedy for Rangers is if he continues to be as successful as he is, then this side of the border will start looking at him as a potential opportunity. But that’s early days.”
Clement to leave for a Premier League job?
Jordan’s observation about Clement’s potential move to the Premier League holds weight, given recent managerial transitions.
Steven Gerrard departed Gers for Aston Villa amid the club’s successful streak, showcasing the appeal of top-flight English football.
Similarly, Ange Postecoglou left Celtic for Tottenham Hotspur having won back to back titles.
If Clement continues Rangers’ impressive run, his managerial prowess and achievements could attract attention from English clubs, highlighting the possibility of a Premier League move.
While fans will not want him to leave, they will be delighted as that would mean a dominating performance domestically.

As he’s shown in a relatively short time, he can not only get them to compete with Celtic but a few results here and there could even see them taking the lead in the title race.
