Aston Villa ready contract proposal for Steven Gerrard

Aston Villa have readied their contract proposal for Steven Gerrard and his backroom staff ahead of his imminent Rangers exit, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Sky Sports Italy journalist, on Wednesday night, shared via his Twitter account, that Villa were preparing the paperwork and contract in order to confirm Gerrard’s appointment.

That advanced in the early hours of Thursday morning and it is only down to the final details before Gerrard takes the hot seat at Villa Park.

Romano tweeted, “Aston Villa have their contract proposal ready for Steve Gerrard and his back-room staff. Paperworks time in order to complete the agreement on compensation for Rangers.

“Final details to be sorted and then Gerrard is expected to join Aston Villa as new manager.”

Here he goes

Gerrard built something special here at the Ibrox and the fans will be gutted to see the back of him.

They always knew that it was going to be hard to keep a hold of him, given how he is viewed as one of the best young managers in the game, but losing him this early in the season will be a bitter pill to swallow.

The Gers boss will have his eyes set on the Liverpool job and Aston Villa could be the perfect place to impress the Anfield hierarchy.

It would be ideal for him to get some Premier League experience and prove whether or not he’s ready for the big job in the future.

For Rangers, it’s important that they get another manager who can carry on from what Gerrard has built rather than tear it up and build something new.

It will also be interesting to see which of the players jump ship now that Gerrard is no longer going to be at the Ibrox helm.
