Ryan Jack nowhere to be seen, Oscar Cortes decision made – Rangers confirmed XI v Aberdeen

Rangers have confirmed their starting XI for the Scottish Premiership clash against Aberdeen on Tuesday (6 February).

Manager Philippe Clement has made four changes from the side that defeated Livingston 3-0 at Ibrox on Saturday (3 February).

Ibrox is once again the venue for the meeting with Aberdeen, in what is Neil Warnock’s first match in charge of the Dons, with a home win by a three-goal margin sending the Gers ahead of Celtic in the table.

Rangers go strong v Aberdeen

Jack Butland retains his place in goal, as do James Tavernier and Connor Goldson at right-back and centre-back respectively.

But John Souttar has come in at centre-back for Leon Balogun after the latter went off injured against Livingston, while Ridvan Yilmaz comes in for Borna Barisic at left-back. There is a change in midfield, with Tom Lawrence coming in for Ryan Jack, who doesn’t make the squad, while John Lundstram retains his place.

And in the final third, Clement has stuck with Rabbi Matondo and Ross McCausland on the wings, with Todd Cantwell again in the middle. But a change comes in the striker position as Cyriel Dessers replaces Fabio Silva.

Like Jack, Balogun has dropped out of the squad entirely, while recent signings Oscar Cortes and Mohamed Diomande have been named on the bench.

In other Rangers news, Jack Butland has sent a three-word message to one of his teammates after an Ibrox milestone.
