Rangers transfer news: Michael Beale not interested in Sam Lammers reunion, loan exit on cards

Rangers want to offload big-money signing Sam Lammers in January, but Michael Beale is not interested in a reunion at Sunderland according to The Sun.

Writing on their website (5 January), the news outlet report that the £4m summer signing has failed to impress Philippe Clement and the boss now wants to get rid to pave the way for new additions.

While his future at Ibrox is in “serious doubt”, Beale is not interested in a loan move at the Stadium of Light and Clement and Rangers will need to look elsewhere as they look to part ways.

“Michael Beale has no interest in taking Rangers misfit Sam Lammers to Sunderland,” they wrote.

“Lammers looks to be on his way out of Ibrox on loan this month. But SunSport understands the new Black Cats boss is not in the market to sign a player in the mould of Lammers.

“Lammers Gers’ future, however, is in serious doubt with Philippe Clement eager to move him on this month. And Gers are now looking to off-load 26 year-old.”

Makes sense

Lammers has been nothing short of horrible as a signing for Rangers this season, and might be the biggest waste of £4m we’ve ever had.

He has shown flashes of technical quality, but a real lack of intensity, a failure to fit in with any sort of style and the fact we have a lot of options better than him mean it’s just not going to work out.

A four-year deal makes a permanent transfer less likely this month, but a loan move could easily be sorted for a host of clubs with the hope that he will perform for them and garner some interest ahead of the summer window.

Beale got away with murder by leaving him with us and he’d be crazy to double-down on his mistake by taking Lammers again, so it’s no surprise that he’s not interested this time around.

Hopefully he can be moved on and we can find a way to get Clement what he wants, but this is a deal that the club need to cut our losses on as soon as possible.
