Rangers now in hunt to complete Scott McKenna loan-to-buy deal as Nottingham Forest news emerges – Sky Sports News
Rangers and Celtic are both interested in signing Nottingham Forest defender Scott McKenna this month, with a loan deal on the cards according to Sky Sports.
Writing on their website (5 January), the news outlet report that the defender could leave the City Ground on loan for the rest of the season before his contract expires in the summer leaving him available for a free transfer.
Rangers and Celtic are both said to be interested in the 27-year-old Scotland international, who has been frozen out at Nottingham Forest due to a contract dispute.
“Celtic and Rangers are both interested in signing Nottingham Forest defender Scott McKenna,” they wrote.
“The Scotland international centre-back is available this month after not playing regularly in the Premier League so far this season.
“McKenna could move on an initial loan deal, with a view to signing on a free transfer in the summer when his Forest contract expires on June 30.”
Talent
McKenna would come into the side at Ibrox and immediately make the defence even stronger, such is the quality that he brings.
His time at Forest has been very good, even being described as “brilliant”, but he’s found himself out of the team recently due to politics rather than his form.

McKenna has experience in the top flight of Scotland and England and alongside Connor Goldson, they could forge the best defensive partnership Ibrox has seen in a long time.
Leon Balogun is getting on in age while Ben Davies and John Souttar have injury problems and Leon King seems to have disappeared from contention this season, so a new defender is needed.
If Clement can get him it would bolster the squad at a relatively low cost and also help to hurt Celtic by stopping them getting a signing. Win-win for Rangers.
