Rangers transfer plans twist after Philippe Clement success at Ibrox
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers...
Dan Plumley has insisted that the success of Philippe Clement at Rangers since his arrival has already put a “completely different spin” on January plans.
After beating Real Betis in the Europa League to top their group, the Bears then swept Aberdeen aside at Hampden Park to lift the Viaplay Cup in the past couple of weeks, as well as closing down Celtic.
The finance expert admitted that the Rangers board are much more likely to back Clement with cash next month in the transfer window after his early success.

“It was a really good week on the pitch,” he exclusively told Ibrox News.
“It is those sorts of things that can then stimulate the activity in January, so even the Europa League position there puts a completely different spin on January.
“That can be the difference, it can be those little moments where the plans he wants to activate are more likely to be backed or you can ramp those plans up a little bit versus the position they may have been in if it was a Europa Conference League knockout.

“It goes hand-in-hand as always and if you can keep that momentum going and push that into the New Year, then you often see that clubs are more likely to get behind the manager and the plans, so I think you’ll see more of that at Rangers as you move into January.”
In other Rangers news, Plumley has insisted that the club can argue they have missed out after a £900m+ deal was signed off
