Rangers to be hurt in pocket after latest incident – Finance Expert

We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers...

Dan Plumley has insisted that it will be Rangers hit in the pocket by fines if the fans continue to use pyrotechnics as they did in the ViaPlay Cup final against Aberdeen.

Rangers lifted their first piece of silverware this season in the game, but fans let off pyrotechnics in front of SPFL and SFA chiefs, despite warnings and statements.

The finance expert admitted that it will inevitably hurt the club the more it goes on, with no signs of the trouble in the stands stopping at this moment.

“It goes back to some of those wider issues,” he exclusively told Ibrox News.

“We’ve spoken about controlling players on the pitch and the pyro issues off the pitch at Rangers, as well as other clubs, especially in European competitions we’ve seen recently.

It goes back to that point that you run the risk the more repeat occurrences you’ve got, we know there has been a warning, and we know the authorities will be looking at it.

Ultimately, where that ends up is hurting the club in the pocket as the likelihood is the next point of call is a fine and the more repeat offences you’re likely to see, the more fines you’re likely to see.

At some point, inevitably the more time it goes on, it’s going to hurt the club in the pocket.”

In other Rangers news, Plumley has insisted that the club can argue they have missed out after a £900m+ deal was signed off
