Rangers official partner reacts to £400m+ Manchester City news
Official Rangers partner Heart & Hand podcast has reacted to news that Manchester City spent £422.9million on wages during their treble-winning season, claiming it’s like a different sport.
The podcast claimed via their Twitter account on 16 November that City’s wage bill is higher than the turnover of every Scottish club combined.
This has come after City released their latest financial records on 15 November as it was revealed the Manchester club posted a record Premier League revenue for the 2022/23 financial year.
Scottish sides cannot compete
At this stage, the disparity between English and Scottish clubs has stretched to a point where even clubs the size of Rangers and Celtic cannot be expected to compete with the likes of City from a financial or competitive standpoint.
The only club that recorded a higher revenue than City in the last financial year was Barcelona [BBC Sport, 15 November], arguably the biggest club in the world, as the financial might of the Premier League directly impacts the results of European competitions.
While the Champions League clubs in England of course make the most money, the amount of strong Premier League teams means others will compete in the smaller competitions, with Liverpool in the Europa League and Aston Villa in the Conference League, making it even more difficult for Rangers.

Whether any sort of European success would be on the cards for the Ibrox club given the financial and sporting power of Premier League sides is becoming less and less of an argument by the day.
In other Rangers news, a £5million man could be handed a chance to revive his Ibrox career.
