Rangers must start Ross McCausland against Livingston as contract talks continue
Rangers must start Ross McCausland in their Scottish Premiership clash with Livingston on 12 November in a bid to convince him to sign a new long-term deal at the club.
Fabrizio Romano shared via his Twitter account on 11 November that the 20-year-old ace was attracting interest from Premier League sides, but Rangers are trying to tie him down to a new deal.
A show of faith and belief in him could do wonders in terms of convincing the winger his long-term future remains at Ibrox, and he has earned a starting place with his cameo performances in recent weeks.
It is no surprise that Premier League teams are tracking the winger after the shows he has put on, albeit largely from the bench, in the blue shirt at Ibrox.
In the Europa League clash with Sparta Prague, the 20-year-old recorded a 100% dribble rate, failed to find the target with just one of his passes, got two shots off, one of which forced a top save from the goalkeeper, and looked an all-round threat with his pace and confidence to take people on down the wing. As Romano shared in his tweet, McCausland’s price would be a measly £350,000 if he were to leave Ibrox in the summer as his contract is expiring and a compensation fee would be largely insignificant in terms of the return he could give should he sign a new deal.

If he is given a chance against Livingston, it will prove that he has a part to play in this Rangers side. An increase in minutes, and therefore trust and belief, could be what it takes for McCausland to commit to new terms.
In terms of who he would replace in the side, Todd Cantwell has also thrived in recent weeks, but he could be moved into the middle in place of the underwhelming Sam Lammers for McCausland to slot in on the right-hand side.
In other Rangers news, Keith Jackson has shared a new prediction on Gers’ season.
