Keith Jackson shares Europa League prediction for Rangers after Ibrox scenes

Keith Jackson has predicted that Rangers could reach the quarter-final of the Europa League if they can top their group and get a bit of luck in the draw.

The Daily Record journalist shared his view that if Rangers can win against Aris Limassol next time out, they will put themselves in a good position to make it out of the group as winners.

Real Betis currently sit at the top, but the Ibrox side beat them in the opening game of the tournament and will hold hopes of doing so again to pip them to the number one spot.

Writing in his Saturday Jury column for the Daily Record [11 November, pg 62], Jackson shared: “A win next time out over Limassol at Ibrox should secure progress from the group stage and Rangers look in good shape to get that job done.

“If they can top Group C – and get a bit of luck in the draw – they could soon be in another quarter-final.”

The perfect opportunity

Rangers have had a mixed spell in their Europa League group so far. A fast start beating Betis at Ibrox under Michael Beale was followed up by a disappointing loss to Aris under Steven Davis.

Since Philippe Clement took over, they have earned four points from the two games against Sparta Prague and put themselves in a good position and will be confident of earning results against an admittedly weaker Aris side and Betis, who they already proved they can beat.

The Europa League has been somewhat of a playground for Rangers in recent years where they have shown they can progress deep into the competition, having gone all the way to penalties in the final under Gio van Bronckhorst, and there will be hopes they can go far in this year’s competition.

If they can win their final two group games, and as Jackson says get a bit of luck to go their way in the draw, they will set themselves up nicely to progress far in the Europa League and perhaps even challenge for silverware again.
