Finance Expert predicts Rangers turnover after record numbers
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers...
Dan Plumley has predicted that Rangers will be posting similar accounts in 2023 after their record £86.8million turnover back in November 2022.
Sky Sports reported the news after the run to the Europa League final, with Douglas Park also suggesting at the time that he expected a positive net profit.
The finance expert admitted that Champions League football should cover the Europa League money, although the accounts following these should lower significantly.

“If you look at the distribution mechanism and UEFA have just confirmed the distribution is going to be the same,” he exclusively told Ibrox News.
“If you look at that in terms of participation in the Champions League, we had that at around €25m, they would have got close to that for the Europa League final run, so those two things in comparison wouldn’t be too different financially.
“We may now see turnover at similar levels, obviously, that is one figure and we don’t know about the costs to know the profit side of things, but you would expect it to hold there or there about as a prediction.

“Of course, moving forward, you would expect that to decrease as they are in the group stages of the Europa League this season, and they would need to go on a run to drive up the revenue.
“Prediction-wise, you are looking at some steady figures of the ones we see next, but a drop off after given they are not in the Champions League.”
In other Rangers news, Plumley has insisted that the club can argue they have missed out after a £900m+ deal was signed off elsewhere
