Dan Plumley has insisted that the European success of Steven Gerrard and Giovanni van Bronckhorst will only ramp up the pressure on Michael Beale at Rangers.

“That’s the same and can be levelled at any club,” he exclusively told Ibrox News.

“Especially a club with huge history, tradition and a fan base with big expectations because the more success you get and looking at where Rangers have been, fallen too and now got back to, that’s a very upward trajectory.

“Obviously, the fans expect that year on year and it’s not always that easy, as we know in Scotland because of their coefficient against other leagues.

You are fighting for top spot always and the pressure is always there, so the minute someone comes in and takes the club on a big run forward, the next manager has got to keep the expectations there and it doesn’t always play out that way.”

In other Rangers news, Plumley has insisted that the club can argue they have missed out after a £900m+ deal was signed off elsewhere
