Michael Stewart blasts Rangers players live on air after what they did v Motherwell, shares ‘poor’ verdict
Michael Stewart has blasted the Rangers players for their performance in the victory over Motherwell on Sunday (24 September).
Speaking on BBC Sportscene on Sunday (35:47), the pundit said that the Gers were “poor” despite picking up a 1-0 win courtesy of a first-half goal from forward Cyriel Dessers.
He added that getting the three points was the “most important thing” for the Light Blues, but that the performance matters because there are many question marks hanging over the side.

“Motherwell were very, very good and Rangers were poor,” said Stewart.
“They have managed to get three points which, ultimately, is the most important thing. But the performance level is very important for Rangers and for Michael Beale at the moment because there are still a lot of question marks hanging over this side.
“They were poor in possession, they didn’t create loads of opportunities. But you look at the away side, it was the opposite. They had really good possession, worked it into good areas, the only thing they were lacking was that final touch.”
Fortunate
There is no doubt that Rangers were fortunate to win the game because they didn’t really deserve to on the back of their performance at Ibrox.
As Stewart pointed out, Motherwell were the better side and created a number of opportunities to get on the scoresheet, but they lacked composure in the key moments.
On another day, the Steelmen could’ve been heading away from Glasgow with all three points and there couldn’t have been much arguing about whether or not they deserved it.

But it was the Gers that did secure the victory and they can now look to take that forward with them even if they weren’t happy with the way they played.
The Light Blues really have to find some fluency over the next few weeks because that’s how you build up confidence for when the big games come around, where everyone’s time at the club is really judged.
In other Rangers news, the club are considering sanctioning the loan exit of one player.
