Chris Jack shares ‘significant’ Rangers admission, makes Michael Beale demand

The recent results for Rangers are “papering over significant cracks” at Ibrox, according to Chris Jack.

Writing on the Rangers Review website on Sunday (24 September), the journalist said a win and a clean for the third successive game made for “pleasant reading” for Michael Beale.

But he added that the Gers’ performance in the 1-0 win over Motherwell on Sunday “wasn’t good enough” and claims the League Cup quarter-final tie against Livingston on Wednesday (27 September) must be won for the Light Blues manager.

Rangers

“A win and a clean sheet for the third successive fixture made for pleasant reading for Beale,” said Jack. “Those facts are papering over significant cracks for Rangers, though. Once again, this wasn’t good enough.

“The deficit to Celtic has been cut to four points following their win over Livingston 24 hours earlier. On Wednesday evening, the Lions visit Ibrox for a match that simply must be won for Beale.”

Unconvincing

It was an incredibly unconvincing performance from Rangers against Motherwell and it’s no surprise to see that the fans still weren’t impressed.

While the three points will no doubt have been welcomed by the supporters, they want to see the team playing well and comfortably putting sides away domestically.

The Gers were fortunate to win the game against the Steelmen after creating very little throughout the afternoon, with Cyriel Dessers’ goal also arriving in a lucky fashion.

Rangers

Jack is right that the performance levels simply have to improve because they aren’t going to be able to get away with playing like that every week.

The recent results will have obviously relieved some of the pressure on Beale, but it will mean nothing if they can’t perform in the big games when it really counts.

In other Rangers news, the club are considering sanctioning the loan exit of one player.
