Michael Beale ready to give Rangers youth a chance in nod to long-term Ibrox stay

Rangers boss Michael Beale has said he has full “trust” in using a couple of young players this season in a nod to his long-term plans at Ibrox.

Beale specifically namechecked 16-year-old Bailey Rice as a player he is happy to use due to his side’s growing list of injury absentees.

Two wins over the past week have helped to lift the dark clouds above Ibrox for now, but make no mistake about it – Beale is still a man under pressure.

Regardless of the recent suggestions he is close to being sacked, Beale is seemingly prepared to bed in some younger players.

“I trust a couple of the young ones to make a step up this season,” he is quoted as saying by The Scotsman [23 September].

“It’s just about when – not if – they make that step up.”

What pressure?

Those are certainly not the words of a manager who has been informed he is close to being axed. Instead, Beale is focusing on how his Rangers squad could look months and indeed years down the line.

A couple of wins may have given a false sense of security, as the Gers are only one bad result away from the sack calls re-emerging.

Rangers

Of course, the ideal scenario would be Rangers continuing to win games with some younger players being brought into the side.

As the opening couple of months of the campaign have highlighted, however, Beale just simply needs to focus on the here and now.

In other Rangers news, the Gers are reportedly considering a transfer U-turn with regards to the future of one of their players.
