Danilo sends message from hospital as Rangers ace shares injury update

Rangers striker Danilo has provided an update on the facial injury he suffered in the Scottish Premiership clash with St Johnstone.

The summer signing scored a header in the 2-0 win on Saturday (16 September), but was forced off having been involved in a collision while scoring.

Rangers manager Michael Beale confirmed after the victory that the striker would be needing an operation on the fractured cheekbone.

Taking to social media to share an injury update, Danilo posted on Instagram saying that the surgery was done, with the message: “Now it’s time to rest and heal, hope to see you all soon.”

Big blow

Beale will certainly need all of his players available to him in what is a very busy period for the club, but unfortunately he has lost the likes of Danilo and midfield ace Todd Cantwell in recent weeks.

There is plenty of pressure on the man in the dugout to deliver positive results following losses against the likes of PSV and Celtic, which have heavily damaged his reputation at Ibrox.

Now the club will get their European campaign underway, with Spanish side Real Betis coming to Glasgow for the group stage opener on Thursday (21 September).

The injuries to the likes of Danilo and Cantwell mean that other players will get the opportunity to step up and show their manager they are worthy of a place in his starting XI.

Summer signings Sam Lammers, Cyriel Dessers and Abdallah Sima should be licking their lips at the opportunity, with goals against Betis the perfect way to gain regular minutes for the Gers.
