Tom Lawrence wows BBC journalist with Man of the Match display in Rangers 2-0 win v St Johnstone
Rangers attacker Tom Lawrence produced a Man of the Match display in his club’s win against St Johnstone, according to BBC Sport journalist Nick McPheat
The 29-year-old played the entire 90 minutes in Perth as the Gers defeated the Saints 2-0 on Saturday (16 September).
Lawrence assisted Rabbi Matondo’s goal in the 79th minute, with Danilo scoring the first goal of the match in the 16th minute.
“12 passes in the final third, two chances created and an assist – not a bad way to mark your first start in a year for the Welshman, whose return is a huge boost for Rangers following the injury to Todd Cantwell,” McPheat wrote for BBC Sport.

There may have been some Rangers fans out there who thought Lawrence’s injury struggles would prevent him from playing for the club ever again, with the thought being that perhaps he wasn’t worth a spot in the squad due to his lengthy spell on the sidelines.

But he has returned with an absolute bang, hugely impressing in the important Scottish Premiership victory for his club.
And the performance couldn’t have come at a better time for his manager, with Beale under huge pressure in the Rangers dugout following the tough defeats to both Celtic and PSV before the recent international break.
Of course one win against struggling St Johnstone won’t make that pressure disappear, but it will at least ease it somewhat until the next challenge comes along.
And that next challenge comes in the form of a Europa League group stage clash against Spanish outfit Real Betis, who travel to Ibrox on Thursday (21 September).
