BBC Sport pundit shares what Michael Beale did v Celtic that left Rangers fans ‘not happy’

Rangers fans were “not happy” with Michael Beale’s decision to withdraw Kemar Roofe during the Rangers clash with Celtic, according to Neil McCann.

Beale’s outfit lost 1-0 to their fierce rivals Celtic in their Scottish Premiership meeting at Ibrox on Sunday (3 August), the first Old Firm derby of the season.

Striker Roofe, who had a goal disallowed in the first half, was substituted in the 63rd minute, replaced by fellow forward Danilo.

“Listen to that crowd, they are not happy with that,” McCann said on BBC Sportsound, as quoted by BBC Sport.

“It’s not great to hear, and it’s certainly not great for Cyriel Dessers to hear.”

Disappointing day

Fans were not only left disappointed by that substitute from Beale, but by the day in general, with their club losing to their bitter rivals.

The loss was made even worse given how it came at home, and also given how it followed the 7-3 aggregate defeat to PSV in Champions League qualifying.

Beale, his players and the fans of the club are now in for even more frustration given how they must wait a long time to recover from the defeats given how there is now an international break coming up.

The Gers are next in action in a Scottish Premiership clash with St. Johnstone on Saturday 16 September, which is quickly followed by a Europa League meeting with Spanish side Real Betis.

Celtic moved to the top of the league table with the victory, leaving Rangers sitting in fourth after four matches, having won twice and lost twice so far.

In other Rangers news, the Gers have won a legal battle as overseas news emerges, an appeal can happen.
