Rangers transfer news as decision made on Leon King as English clubs hold talks

Multiple English clubs have held late talks to sign Rangers defender Leon King on transfer deadline day, according to Jordan Campbell.

The Athletic journalist reported on Friday (1 September) that Gers have decided that he will not be leaving.

This also means that they are unlikely to bring in any fresh faces before the 11 pm transfer deadline.

Campbell wrote on Twitter, “Rangers defender Leon King not going out on loan.

“Several English League One clubs had late talks about taking the 19yo but the situation is expected to be re-assessed in January.

“Understand it’s unlikely there will be any more incomings at Rangers.”

Not good

Rangers desperately need a new centre-back through the door and there were are those links with Harry Souttar at Leicester City.

After the Foxes’ relegation, it became an easier deal to do as well but it’s shocking that they’ve now failed to get that over the line.

With King not leaving on loan, the chances of them signing a new player have reduced and this is not something the fans will be happy about.

Rangers

The young defender can play another year on loan where he’ll get regular first-team minutes and Gers can sign someone who improves their defence.

They have been all over the place defensively and personnel changes are desperately needed but that seems unlikely now.

Hopefully, things change and there are surprises that spark up in the final hours of deadline day.
