Rangers transfer news as official partner issues update on Peterborough defender Ronnie Edwards

Heart and Hand claim that Rangers are not interested in securing the services of Peterborough defender Ronnie Edwards this summer.

According to the official media partner of the Light Blues, despite reports to the contrary, they will not be signing the 20-year-old English centre-back.

The Guardian even reported on 17 August that Gers could table an offer for the England under-20s international.

Via Twitter, Heart and Hand wrote, “Rangers say they are not interested in Peterborough defender Ronnie Edwards despite reports linking him.”

Why not?

Edwards is a decent young defender who appears destined for top-flight football so it could be worth taking a punt on him.

He won the award for Peterborough’s Player of the Season in 2021/22 and he was only 18 in that campaign.

The third tier of English football is certainly not the most competitive of leagues, but it still shows that he’s better as a teenager than most players in their prime.

He will only get better and this is a move that Rangers should consider making if they can sign him at the right price.

Peterborough are notorious in terms of asking inflated fees for their players but that’s the sort of model they run on and it’s worked for them.

It remains to be seen who they do end up signing in the coming days as time is now running out this summer.
