BBC pundit blown away by Rangers ace Jack Butland after what he did v Servette
Neil McCann was thrilled with the performance of Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland in the aggregate win against Servette on Tuesday (15 August).
The English keeper made important stops en route to a 1-1 draw that saw Gers make it through to the next qualifying round.
Speaking on the BBC, as quoted by Football Scotland, McCann revealed his astonishment at the club’s ability to sign the Englishman.

He said, “I’m so surprised they’ve got Jack Butland. I thought that was an unbelievably good signing.
“To replace someone of the stature of Allan McGregor with someone like this guy, he’s at a good age and I think he’s got so much left in him but I was astounded he chose to come to Rangers over staying in the English Premier League because he must have had options.
“This guy makes big saves. How many times over the years did we see Allan McGregor not have too much to do but be called into action and come up with a top save? Tonight, he made several.”
Top work
Michael Beale or whoever at Ibrox recommended Butland deserves top praise for bringing the former Manchester United keeper to the club.
He looks every bit the player they lacked over the past few years and he seems to have fit in perfectly.

He’s also a commanding presence and surely will be a leader in the dressing room as well despite being at the club for only a few months.
It won’t come as a surprise if within a year or two there are games where he’s donning the captain’s armband as he’s every bit the leader for Rangers.
Hopefully, his performances only keep getting better and he returns to the England national team setup as he was underappreciated playing as a reserve goalkeeper.
In other Rangers news, a manager at an English has broken his silence as Gers now explore move to sign international defender.
