Rangers will look to Saudi Arabia to sell players in transfer news - Finance Guru

We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers...

Dan Plumley has insisted that Rangers will look to Saudi Arabia to sell players this summer to extract the best value from letting them go.

It comes after James Tavernier [90min] and Fashion Sakala [The 4th Official] have both been strongly linked with the Ibrox exit door to make that move.

The finance expert admitted that every club will now be looking at that but will have to consider that agents and others involved will also receive more money.

“For sure,” he exclusively told Ibrox News.

“That is not just Rangers, the whole European football market has been put on alert. You’ve seen some of the deals that are going through, it naturally, looking at that from individual club point of views, you’ve got players that are potentially being sold, you’re going to look to extract the best value from that.

No doubt, clubs will be looking to Saudi Arabia.

You have more to consider than that, including the player and where they want to go, but also agents and the amount of money they may take from deals. There are lots of nuances in the mix as always, but certainly, it stands to reason. Every club will be looking at that, for sure.”

John Bennett and his team will be looking for some offers as exits start to come into play more at Ibrox after the initial transfer spree at Ibrox.

Nothing has come from the Tavernier links, and nor should they, but should Sakala be on the selling list, moving him onto Saudi Arabia could be perfect from a financial view point.

This is something to watch.

In other Rangers news, Plumley has insisted that the club can argue they have missed out after a £900m+ deal was signed off elsewhere
