Rangers get very big win as SPFL battle finally ends – Finance Expert

We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers...

Dan Plumley has insisted that Rangers have ended their legal battle with the SPFL with a “really big win” after it finally concluded in July.

Rangers ended their legal dispute over the Cinch sponsorship deal, and it ended with the club getting an apology and contributions to their costs.

The finance expert admitted that it was not ideal from a legal governance aspect, but the Bears backed themselves and came out on the right side.

“The way this has played out now, it’s a really positive win for Rangers in the bigger picture,” he exclusively told Ibrox News.

“We’ve said this before, it’s really tricky as you want the clubs and the leagues to work together as much as possible, we know we have seen a lot of friction in Scotland, and we know the power that Rangers hold in that space.

It’s not the ideal way you want it to play out from a league governance perspective, but in this example, the club will be feeling like they’ve got a really big win.

They backed themselves at the time and they’ve been proven right in this regard.”

It has been nothing but positive news since John Bennett took the reins with James Bisgrove alongside him, and long may that continue at Ibrox.

Things have already changed from the Douglas Park days, with Rangers progressing to the next level in every aspect off and hopefully on the pitch.

In other Rangers news, Plumley has insisted that the club can argue they have missed out after a £900m+ deal was signed off elsewhere
