Rangers transfer news: Aberdeen not interested in signing Ianis Hagi
Aberdeen are not interested in signing Ianis Hagi from Rangers this summer, according to a new report from Press and Journal (2 July).
The Dons were linked with a move to the club by Romanian outlet Sport.ro, with a £3.4m loan to buy deal mooted to take the international playmaker away from Ibrox.
But while interest from Europe may be true, Aberdeen’s interest in the player is “wide of the mark” according to journalist Danny Law.

“Reports in Romania linking Aberdeen with a move for Rangers winger Ianis Hagi are wide of the mark,” they wrote (2 July).
“Hagi, who is under contract until 2026, made only 11 appearances for Rangers last season as he returned from a cruciate ligament injury.
“But the 26-times capped Romania international is not on Aberdeen’s transfer radar.”
Step down
Hagi is good enough to be playing in Europe regularly and if it wasn’t for Michael Beale completing a huge overhaul of the squad this summer then most fans would be more than happy to see him stick around.
But the fact of the matter is that there are now so many options ahead of him in the pecking order than an exit is something he seriously has to consider.
But Galatasaray will be playing in the Champions League next season which are said to be an option, while Serie A and La Liga are a higher standard of league than the Scottish Premiership.

Those moves would make far more sense than a move to Aberdeen anyway, and the chances of them beating out competition of that level to sign him was slim to none anyway.
Hopefully Beale can find a place for Hagi in the squad so he can get back to his best level and make a difference again, but don’t be shocked to see an exit happen at some point before the window closes.
