Haji Wright could follow Cyriel Dessers to Rangers as white smoke emerges

Another forward could follow Cyriel Dessers to Ibrox after Rangers grow confident of a deal for the Cremonese forward, according to The Daily Record.

According to Calciomercato on Wednesday 7 June, the Gers are closing in on an agreement for the 28-year-old striker, with a £3.6million outright offer on the table.

The Daily Record claim (8 June) that Dessers’ capture may not be the end of the Gers’ striker business, with Antalyaspor’s Haji Wright also under consideration.

It’s believed Antonio Colak has been told he can leave the club this summer and that further reinforcements are required. However, it remains to be seen if Michael Beale’s budget will allow him to add Wright to his squad.

Ambition

If the Gers can get two proven strikers over the line in return then it would show some excellent ambition from the board. With Alfredo Morelos departing and Colak flattering to deceive, there’s certainly a need for a new frontman. Dessers looks like an experienced frontman. He’s scored goals in Italy and would be an impressive replacement for Morelos.

Beale will be delighted with how his transfer business has gone so far. The term ‘overhaul’ has been bandied about and so far so good for the Rangers boss. He’s added Dujon Sterling, Kieran Dowell and Jack Butland to date. Now the focus has to turn to forward areas.

Rangers

Strikers win matches and, at present, there’s a distinct lack of forwards at Ibrox. If Rangers really want to show intent, their striker search won’t end when Dessers completes his move to Scotland. If the Gers really want take advantage of Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic departure, significant investment is required throughout the summer.
