Rangers transfer news as Michael Beale makes decision on signing Tasos Douvikas

Utrecht’s Tasos Douvikas is “no longer” the first choice striker target for Rangers, according to Football Transfers.

The publication noted that the 23-year-old was “in the picture” to join the Gers this summer with TeamTalk reporting on 23 May that they were going to battle Celtic in the big to sign him.

But despite scoring 22 goals in all competitions this season, Rangers are reportedly looking elsewhere for a new striker.

“Tasos Douvikas was in the picture to leave for Glasgow, but the Greek striker of FC Utrecht no longer seems to be the first choice in the meantime,” according to Football Transfers.

Striker needed

The expected major shake-up at Ibrox has already started, with manager Michael Beale snapping up duo Dujon Sterling and Kieran Dowell before the summer transfer window has even commenced.

They certainly won’t be the last faces in the door at Ibrox in the coming months, with the Gers in desperate need of new players as they look to challenge fierce rivals Celtic in all competitions.

Beale will also want to go on a strong European run, and that doesn’t look very likely at all with the current squad of players.

The final third is definitely an area that needs fixing, with both Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent leaving Ibrox for free following the most recent campaign.

Beale shouldn’t rush into things in this department in order to get any deal for a new striker exactly right, but the manager also knows that the more time he has to work with new arrivals the better.

In other Rangers news, the Gers have made a “significant” seven-figure bid for one European-based striker.
