Mark Wilson reacts to 'outstanding' Todd Cantwell, it's 'good sign' for Rangers fans
Former Celtic defender Mark Wilson has praised Todd Cantwell and brandished the Rangers attacker as the “standout” signing in the SPFL.
The former Norwich man netted in the Gers’ 2-2 draw with Hearts at Ibrox on Wednesday evening and has made a flying start to life in Scotland.
Talking live on Sky Sports, Wilson was full of praise for the 25-year-old midfielder.
“He’s been the standout standing, probably since January, in the league,” Wilson told Sky Sports News (25 May).
“Your unsure what Cantwell is going to bring? Could he adapt? He’s been the standout at Rangers – once again another goal. He just looks lively and looks for the forward pass.
“He’s got plenty of energy and Michael Beale will look to build his team around players like that. Young, energetic and creative players. It’s a good sign for the Rangers fans. The hope will be can Michael Beale add more.”
Excellent
Cantwell could well be a key man next season. He’s adapted to life in the Scottish Premiership extremely well and should be the man Beale builds his team around.
The Ibrox faithful clearly like what they see from the January addition and it’s up to Cantwell to continue to improve in a Rangers jersey. The board must ensure they get their business done early. With Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent departing, there are plenty of holes to fill in attacking areas.
For Cantwell to perform to his best, he has to be surrounded by players who are of a similar calibre. A good finisher in front of him could thrive with the service from the former Norwich man.
Kieran Dowell is also a familiar face for Cantwell. The attacking midfielder was announced as a Rangers player on Wednesday evening and it will be intriguing to see what partnership they can formulate.
