Rangers transfer news as Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos goodbyes look certain v Hearts

Rangers fans are set to see the last of Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent at Ibrox in midweek against Hearts, as featured in the Daily Record, [22 May, Page 40].

As widely expected by now, the pair will say their goodbyes and potentially feature for the last time, as well as some other players who are set to depart the club imminently.

Rangers will make a statement tomorrow regarding the out-of-contract players who are set to depart, although injuries could stop the farewell being in the game.

In the aftermath of the victory over Hibs on Sunday, Gers boss Michael Beale provided an update on the situation as reflected in the Record report.

“The visit of Hearts will give the likes of Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent, and others, the chance to say their goodbyes – even if injury prevents them getting on the pitch,” it said.

“There will be one or two players, whether they start or come on, who will be around it (on Wednesday), added Beale.

“It’s right they get the chance to say farewell to the fans. We’ll make a statement on Tuesday so the fans are aware.

“Some people in our squad have been unbelievable for Rangers between 2018 and now and it’s right they get the send-off they deserve.”

Farewell appearance

In Sunday’s game, there was no sign of Morelos and Kent as Rangers racked up another convincing win.

Beale added afterwards that the Colombian striker was a late call-off on Saturday but it remains to be seen if they will be able to add some final minutes at Ibrox to their notable careers in Glasgow.

Despite some excellent highs, it is a shame that both are bowing out in this way, as well as the club receiving no transfer fees but the water is well and truly under the bridge in that regard.

Several European highlights will be remembered along with the 2021 title when it comes to telling the story of the talented duo but there is no doubt that their achievements should have been greater.

All that remains at this stage, is their farewell appearance, either on the pitch one final time or with a brief wave and acknowledgement of the crowd at the place they have called home in recent years.
